Text Therapy

What is Text Therapy?

The advent of smartphones has revolutionized the intersection between technology and the treatment of mental health issues. The recent development of text-based therapy allows for clients to obtain asynchronous text chat (also known as text coaching or therapeutic conversation) with licensed mental health providers.
Why Text Therapy
Text Therapy provides the opportunity to write to your therapist the moment your anxieties arise, at your convenience, right at your fingertips. No more waiting for weeks. Text Therapy is most appropriate for clients with mild symptoms for maintenance, general support, relapse prevention, and supplementation with more traditional forms of therapy.

Is Text Therapy Effective?

How Does It Work?

Text therapy includes unlimited messaging and an expectation to receive same-day responses, with a minimum of 1-2 responses per day. Simply request the teletherapy service from your client portal or contact your therapist directly. Live chat sessions are also available for same cost as a regular telehealth session.
Text Therapy can only occur through HIPAA compliant forms of communication via messaging through the client’s SimplePractice portal. The client can also request to utilize the HIPAA compliant Spruce account as a back-up alternative. Text Therapy cannot occur over email or regular texting due to lack of HIPAA compliance.
